**Introduction to the Department of Probability and Financial Mathematics, Beijing Institute of Technology**
The Department of Probability and Financial Mathematics was established in 2012, with faculty members specializing in probability theory and its applications. Currently, the department consists of 13 faculty members, including:
- 1 Cheung Kong Scholar Distinguished Professor
- 1 Cheung Kong Scholar Lecture Professor
- 4 Full Professors
- 4 Associate Professors
- 1 Tenure-Track Associate Professor
- 2 Tenure-Track Assistant Professors
- 1 Lecturer
The department has secured one National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and one National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars.
**Research:**
The research of the department focuses on various topics related to probability theory and stochastic analysis, particularly in stochastic processes, stochastic (partial) differential equations, and branching processes, where we have produced internationally influential work. Additionally, we strive for breakthroughs in interdisciplinary fields involving probability theory and stochastic analysis, including quantum field theory, stochastic control, and economic finance. We are committed to fostering global collaboration among probabilists by organizing international conferences, online seminars, and other academic events.
**Teaching and Talent Development:**
As our core mission, we dedicate ourselves to cultivating researchers with a solid foundation in probability theory who aspire to engage in theoretical studies of mathematics and applied mathematics at universities or research institutions. At the same time, we emphasize training finance professionals with strong mathematical backgrounds through supervising undergraduate thesis projects and master's programs in applied statistics.
In the classroom, we integrate rich online teaching resources, encourage discussions, and inspire students' interest in learning. Outside the classroom, we actively guide students in competitions such as mathematical modeling contests and the Shing-Tung Yau Mathematics Competition, enhancing interaction and mutual influence between faculty and students.
We welcome visits and collaborations from our colleagues worldwide.
